six months in – half way there

“I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.” – RLS

Today it is six months since me and my little backpack boarded the plane to Delhi and I can’t believe it. It’s gone so quickly. I think back to some of the places I’v seen and think about some of the people I’v met and I smile. I wonder if I’v changed much since leaving?

I’m so grateful for so many things. Firstly to have my best friend traveling with me. Don’t get me wrong its nice to go off and do our own things every now and again but I’m always so glad to be doing this trip together. No one chooses to be alone.

Secondly, keeping in touch with my family especially my Mum. I think it takes really going away to make you realise how much you miss them. Im really looking forward to seeing them all again next year. Especially my sister and cheeky nephew.

I’m so lucky to have some great friends, old and new. It makes me so happy when I hear from people. I’v met some wonderful people on the road and hearing from friends from home can really make my day.

Lastly Im grateful to myself for coming. I had a really great life before coming out and it was pretty tough to leave it all behind but I’m so thankful I did. Everyday I meet new people, do something that scares me, see something that moves me. I would’t change that for the world.

Of course I miss things from home. Somedays all I can think about is smokey bacon crisps, good wine, actual sausages, tea, and wearing winter clothes, but I know those things aren’t going anywhere.

Im excited about my future. I’v got so many new ideas, inspirations and passions. I’v done so much already, but I’m only half way there, and there is so much more for me to do.
